UCLA CPO Partnership Proposal · For discussion
An invitation to build
YES 2027 together.
Gamma Scholar Foundation and Youth Entrepreneur Summit invite UCLA’s Community Programs Office to explore co-hosting and supporting an overnight entrepreneurship camp for 100 Los Angeles-area high-school students, June 21–25, 2027, at UCLA.
Discuss the partnership ↗The opportunity
Connect an entrepreneurial idea
to a college-going future.
We propose an experience that connects practical entrepreneurship with college exposure, leadership, and teamwork. For local high-school students, a campus setting could make conversations about their next steps more concrete: meeting peers, exploring an idea, and seeing college as part of their horizon.
We see a natural connection with CPO’s work in college preparation, outreach, leadership development, and workforce readiness. Its college preparation programs serve students across Los Angeles and Southern California through peer advising, parent engagement, and experiences of college life. That alignment is the starting point for this invitation.
A foundation to build on
What our two partners bring.
Community commitment & student support
Gamma Scholar Foundation awarded 10 scholarships for the 2026 YES event. For 2027, the foundation will award $500 scholarships to help students attend. The plan includes one chaperone for every three students, alongside the foundation’s nonprofit and community partnership. Scholarship award counts and further details remain to be developed.
Experience in youth entrepreneurship
YES brings existing program experience in practical business learning, developing ideas, communicating a pitch, and teamwork. We propose building on that experience with CPO to shape a program suited to these students and this campus context.
Ways we could work together
A proposed role for UCLA CPO.
Shape the student experience together and define each partner’s responsibilities, planning process, and role in delivery.
Explore UCLA student mentors and workshop contributors who could support entrepreneurship, leadership, and college-readiness conversations.
Explore a campus tour and college-readiness component with the appropriate teams. CPO’s campus tour model offers a relevant starting point for discussion.
Identify appropriate campus partners and explore what coordination would be needed for space, overnight accommodations, meals, and student participation.
Support to explore
Financial or in-kind support.
We would welcome a conversation about support for student participation and event needs such as housing, meals, space, or materials. Together, we could develop an itemized budget, identify possible contributions, and discuss funding pathways and campus requirements.
The first step is a shared scope and budget—not a fixed funding request. This proposal invites CPO to help determine what is feasible and where a partnership could add the most value.
Proposed measures
A practical way to learn.
We propose agreeing on a small set of measures during planning:
- Student attendance and participation
- Participant feedback on the experience
- Team idea presentations or reflections
These could help partners review the experience and inform future collaboration.
